OTAC is a 100% volunteer led organization serving the community of occupational therapy practitioners and students in the state of Colorado.

Serving on the board is a great opportunity to develop leadership skills, network with other professionals, and serve a valuable role in support of occupational therapy in Colorado! Volunteers are eligible for the receipt of contact hours for their volunteer contribution.

OTAC welcomes your application for the open leadership and advocacy positions listed below. Share your talents and passion for occupational therapy and make a difference in supporting OT practice in Colorado!

How is OTAC Organized?

The executive body that runs OTAC is known as the Board.  The Board consists of three entities:

           1) The Executive Committee of the Board

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
2) Board Committee Chairpersons
  • Communication Committee Chairperson
  • Conference Committee Chairperson
  • Fundraising Committee Chairperson
  • Member Services Committee Chairperson
  • Professional Development Committee Chairperson
  • Public Policy Committee Chairperson

            3) OTAC OT & OTA Association Representatives
  • OT OTAC Representative
  • OTA OTAC Representative
  • Student Representatives (elected by their school's SOTA group)

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE:

The Executive Committee of the Board are the only positions on the Board that are elected by OTAC membership (the rest of the Board is appointed).  The Executive Committee of the Board is made up of four elected officers who serve two-year terms: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

Election Information

Once an OT or OTA is nominated /self-nominates for consideration for one of these four positions, they are listed on an election slate of candidates.  OTAC members are sent an online link to the election ballot to review the slate of candidates and vote for their choices.  The candidate that receives the highest percentage of ballot votes is then elected to that position.

Elections need to have a quorum (at least 10%) of OTAC members participate in voting on a slate of candidates for the election to be valid.  If there are no nominations for an executive position during the election cycle the position is open for appointment by the president with Board approval.

To nominate yourself or someone else for an Executive Committee of the Board position, submit a nomination here!

      BOARD COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSONS

OTAC has 6 permanent committees and each of these committees has a Chairperson.

Board Chairpersons apply for appointment, meaning they do not have to run for election.  The Nominations Committee, led by the Vice President, reviews applications for appointment to any open position and submits the committee’s choice for appointment to the full Board.  The potential appointee is then voted on by the Board; a 2/3rds majority vote is required for Board approval.

To apply for a Committee Chairperson position, submit an appointment application here!
